How we create, review, and maintain our content
Our Standard
All clinical and educational content on LifeShield is written to reflect current guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). We do not publish content that contradicts established clinical evidence or overstates the certainty of genetic risk estimates.
Who Writes Our Content
Content is written by the LifeShield team in collaboration with licensed genetic counselors and reviewed for clinical accuracy before publication. We do not use AI-generated content without human clinical review.
Medical Review
All gene pages, risk articles, and clinical guides are reviewed by the LifeShield Medical Team before publication. The LifeShield Medical Team consists of board-certified genetic counselors and clinical advisors. Reviewer credentials are verified against publicly available professional directories.
Sources
Our primary sources are:
- National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Peer-reviewed literature published in journals including JAMA, NEJM, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Genetics in Medicine
- ClinVar and ClinGen for variant interpretation guidance
- American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) guidelines
We do not cite secondary aggregators as primary sources.
Update Policy
Gene pages and clinical content are reviewed and updated when:
- NCCN guidelines are revised
- Significant new peer-reviewed evidence is published
- A dateModified value on a page is more than 12 months old
Each page displays a “Last reviewed” date. If you identify outdated or inaccurate content, contact us at medical@lifeshield.ai.
